Basralocus, also known as Angélique, is a strong and durable tropical wood native to Suriname and French Guiana. The heartwood has a warm golden-brown to purplish-brown colour, often with a red glow, while the sapwood is light grey. With a high resistance to pile worm and fungi, it is ideal for hydraulic engineering applications such as scaffolding and sheet piling. The wood has a density of 750-850 kg/m³ and requires carbide tools when processed due to its high gravel content. Also suitable for façade cladding and interior floors.
