About this lot
Jan Cobbaert (1909-1995) was awarded the Rome Prize for the first time internationally in 1937. Successful exhibitions and awards at home and abroad follow one another. Many museums in Belgium buy work from him. Museums abroad are also showing interest. For example, one can now admire work by Cobbaert in Norway, Luxembourg, Denmark and Germany. In 2010, the Jan Cobbaertplein in Leuven was named after him.
