About this lot
De 1000 Sp (Sp voor Spezial) is een twee-zits sportcoupé geproduceerd door de Duitse Auto Union. De 1000 Sp werd gepresenteerd op de Internationale Automobiel Tentoonstelling in 1957 en werd geproduceerd door Baur in Stuttgart van 1958 tot 1965. In totaal werden er 5.004 sportcoupés vervaardigd, waardoor deze auto vandaag de dag een zeldzame verschijning is.
Vanaf het modeljaar 1962 kregen zowel de coupé als de roadster afgeronde achterzijvinnen. Bovendien werden vanaf chassisnummer 4.360 (maart 1962) schijfremmen toegevoegd aan de vooras, samen met een mengsmeringssysteem. Net als andere Auto Union-modellen kreeg de 1000 Sp ook versterkingen aan de carrosserie voor de bevestiging van veiligheidsgordels.
Deze 1000 Sp verkeert in een gerestaureerde en zeer nette staat. De geschiedenis van de auto is volledig gedocumenteerd en bewezen dankzij facturen van 1966 – 1990. Het originele onderhoudsboekje bevat stempels van 1963 -1973. De auto werd in 1979 verkocht door de vorige eigenaar.
De tweede eigenaar verkocht de auto in 1991, de derde eigenaar in 1993. Alle eigenaren kwamen uit Berlijn.
