About this lot
- Remarks:
- The Ferrari Mondial is a mid-engine, V8, grand tourer produced and marketed by Ferrari between 1980 and 1993. The Mondial is designed by Pininfarina and the body is by Carrozzeria Scaglietti. The Mondial was offered as a 2+2 coupe or convertible and has a slightly higher roofline, larger dimensions and a higher weight to accommodate children or small adults. The Mondial replaced the Ferrari 308/208 GT4 coupé and remains the last 2+2 Ferrari with V8, rear mid-engine. The name Mondial, French for global, reflected its global compliance with 1980 safety and emission standards, as well as the company's prominent victories in motorsport. Ferrari had used the nameplate in the 1950s to celebrate Formula 1 world championships and again in the 1970s to celebrate its Formula 1 constructors' world championships. The Pininfarina bodywork was manufactured by coachbuilder Carrozzeria Scaglietti. Louver grilles are located on each side of the car, just in front of the rear wheels, and provide air intake for the engine on the right and on the left, for air supply to an external oil cooler located in front of the rear wheel arch. The Mondial chassis has detachable subframes that contain the main mechanical assemblies, including one at the rear that supports the engine/transmission/rear suspension, to simplify engine maintenance compared to previous V8 Ferraris. While most body panels are made of steel, the front lid and rear cover of the Mondial 8 and QV are made of aluminum. In the Mondial 8, the V8 has two valves per cylinder, and this is increased to four valves per cylinder for the Quattrovalvole QV, and ours is a QV that produces 240 horsepower compared to the 214 in the Mondial 8. Our global QV that we present today is in beautiful original configuration inside and out and she has just had her major service for a total amount of 7,200 € (invoice on request). The previous major service was carried out in 2020. It comes in the beautiful color Rosso Dino, not bright red but a little lighter. Absolutely stunning in combination with her cream leather. Accompanied by its service booklet, which shows that it was delivered new in Milan, Italy and since 2019 with Belgian registration, carpass and our stamp of approval.
