About this lot

Remarks:
1950 Studebaker Champion Regal Deluxe convertible Studebaker cars from 1950 are iconic examples of post-World War II American automotive design. By this time, Studebaker was known for its eye-catching, innovative styling, thanks in large part to industrial designer Raymond Loewy and his team. Design and styling : One of the most memorable features of the 1950 Studebaker models, particularly the Commander, was their "Bullet nose" front end. This futuristic look made the cars instantly recognizable. It gave Studebaker a modern, streamlined look, different from the thicker designs of its competitors. Studebaker was ahead of his time in terms of aerodynamics. The 1950 models had smooth lines and a more fluid design compared to other cars on the road, making them seem fast and modern. The studebaker Commander was positioned as a more luxurious model. The Commander had a more powerful engine than the Champion and was available with more luxury options. It also had the same "Bulletnose" design, but offered a smoother, more comfortable ride. She comes with a 245.6 cubic inch inline-6 engine, good for 102 horsepower. It also comes with 2 innovations: Overdrive transmission: Studebaker offered an optional overdrive transmission, which improved highway fuel economy by running the engine at a lower rpm at higher speeds. Hill Holder: Another innovation was the "hill holder" mechanism, which ensured that the car did not roll backwards on a slope when the driver released the brake. Studebakers from the early 1950s, especially the 1950 model, have since become collector's items due to their unique design. The "bullet nose" models, in particular, are often seen at classic car shows and have a dedicated following. The example we present here today was sold new in Belgium in April 1950, remained in Belgium for the rest of its life and was very nicely restored in 2014-2016. It is said that she has only had 2 owners from new.
